Make Your Own Bottle Lamp Workshop with Braw Wee

Come along to this fun and informal workshop at the Braw Wee Emporium where we’ll take you through the steps to make your very own 30cm Drum Lampshade or very own boozy bottle lamp with a 25cm drum lampshade.

Just need to bring your own fabric (and bottle if you chose that option) and we’ll provide the rest including some refreshments.

Your covering needs to be 970mm wide x 255mm to cover the self-adhesive panel supplied. We recommend that you don't bring along too heavy a weight fabric for your first lampshade, not stretchy cotton is perfect for beginners!

We can recommend getting your fabric from our neighbours at Fabric Bazaar or Mandor’s in the City Centre.

You’ll also have the opportunity to buy your own lampshade making kits to use at home after the workshop too.

Introduction to LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® with LSP Highland

This workshop will introduce you to the LSP method over 2 hours and explore the various ways you can use it for;

  • Communicating

  • Exploring ideas

  • Creating action

With LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® we build, we share, we learn.

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) Method is based on a set of fundamental beliefs about leadership and organisations. People naturally want to contribute, be part of something bigger and take ownership of ideas. All too often, leaders leave knowledge untapped in their teams but allowing each team member to contribute and speak out results in more sustainable business.

" This enjoyable experience encompassed a novel method and process of learning which involved my mental as well as emotional concentration. " Graeme Rose, Albyn Housing

" We’ve now had Lindsay to use LSP for us a few times in different scenarios and with different groups and each time new participants have been slightly wary and unsure at the start but totally convinced of its value at the end.” Polly Chapman, CEO Impact Hub Inverness

The purpose of LSP is to change “lean backwards meetings” into “lean forward meetings” resulting in more participation, more insights. LSP is facilitated thinking, communication and problem-solving technique for use with organisations, teams and individuals.

It draws on extensive research from the fields of business, organisational development, psychology and learning, and is based on the concept of “hand knowledge.

Tom Sachs' 'A Space Program' UK Premiere Film Screening

Tom Sachs' 'A Space Program' UK Premiere Film Screening

Creative East End are hosting the UK premiere of New York based artists Tom Sachs ‘A Space Program’ (2015). Sachs’ fetishisation for the Apollo missions of the 60s and 70s culminated two exhibitions; ‘Space Program’ (2007) and ‘Space Program 2.0: MARS’ (2012), which saw him constructing a to-size model of the Apollo Lunar module, strapping in two Tyvek spacesuit-clad astronauts and making a hypothetical trip to Mars. The film, directed by Van Neistat, explores this handmade endeavour, providing a visual blueprint of Sachs' methods and techniques.

This showing was made possible through collaboration with young artist Connall Bonner, disappointed by the fact the film only received big screen treatment in America. He decided to contact Sachs directly and obtained screening permission from the man himself!

Film starts: 1930
Film ends: 2045

Price: £6.

This event is BYOB w/ a £1 cap charge.
