Tom Sachs' 'A Space Program' UK Premiere Film Screening

Tom Sachs' 'A Space Program' UK Premiere Film Screening

Creative East End are hosting the UK premiere of New York based artists Tom Sachs ‘A Space Program’ (2015). Sachs’ fetishisation for the Apollo missions of the 60s and 70s culminated two exhibitions; ‘Space Program’ (2007) and ‘Space Program 2.0: MARS’ (2012), which saw him constructing a to-size model of the Apollo Lunar module, strapping in two Tyvek spacesuit-clad astronauts and making a hypothetical trip to Mars. The film, directed by Van Neistat, explores this handmade endeavour, providing a visual blueprint of Sachs' methods and techniques.

This showing was made possible through collaboration with young artist Connall Bonner, disappointed by the fact the film only received big screen treatment in America. He decided to contact Sachs directly and obtained screening permission from the man himself!

Film starts: 1930
Film ends: 2045

Price: £6.

This event is BYOB w/ a £1 cap charge.

Make Your Own Lampshade or Bottle Lamp Workshop with Braw Wee

Come along to this fun and informal workshop at the Braw Wee Emporium where we’ll take you through the steps to make your very own 30cm Drum Lampshade or very own boozy bottle lamp with a 25cm drum lampshade.

Just need to bring your own fabric (and bottle if you chose that option) and we’ll provide the rest including some refreshments.

Your covering needs to be 970mm wide x 255mm to cover the self-adhesive panel supplied. We recommend that you don't bring along too heavy a weight fabric for your first lampshade, not stretchy cotton is perfect for beginners!

We can recommend getting your fabric from our neighbours at Fabric Bazaar or Mandor’s in the City Centre.

You’ll also have the opportunity to buy your own lampshade making kits to use at home after the workshop too.
